The First Step is Admitting You Have a Problem

posted by Momo Fali on May 7, 2013

I often talk to my kids about addiction and how important it is to make the right decision the first time they are given the opportunity to try something. I also tell them it’s not a matter of if they will be offered something to try, but when.

This lecture usually includes my opinion that if you don’t say no the first time, your brain may not be able to say no the second time; addiction takes over and makes the decision for you.

I tell them that when someone approaches them and says, “It’s great! You’re going to love it! Come on, everyone is doing it!” to politely decline and walk away from the situation. Don’t start, because you don’t know if you can stop.

I wish I had taken my own advice.

Damn you, Candy Crush! Damn you!

Yep, me to. While we are talking about, how do you pass 125?

Having been stuck on level 38 for an embarrassing amount of time (dammit!), I feel your pain.

I got stuck on level 177 and deleted the app. That game was starting to SUCK OUT MY SOUL.

So instead I play Farm Heroes Saga. Almost as addictive, but with cutesy widdle farm animals.

    Clearly I have a problem.

LOVE FARM HEROES. Except I’m on the grumpy croppies and they’re not as cute.

Right there with you, except that my addiction is Angry Birds. Just say no!!

My wife just started playing Candy Crush after her sister invited her. Now she got my 3-year-old hooked and no longer plays it herself. Those games are like crack, says the Dude addicted to Words with Friends 🙂

I have resisted so far. *shivering*

Gateway drug to Words with Friends, people.

I’m addicted to Words with Friends. I’m proud and a little embarrassed to say I’ve been playing it daily for over four years. My husband calls it Nerds with Friends.

That level was the one that almost made me quit. ALMOST.

Oh good lord, same here. I’ve finally been able to break a few of my other game addictions, but this one just seems to linger. It doesn’t help that everyone else on this planet seems to be playing it as well. LOL So at the moment, its socially acceptable. And I’m just going to stick with that justification. 😉
