Guess what time it is? Oh, forget it, I’m horrible at keeping secrets…I’ll go ahead and tell you!
It’s time for BP Giveaway #3 and this week two winners will be chosen, so that makes this Giveaway #4 too!
Once again, the BP Commute Crew wants you to commute better with the chance to win a $40 BP gift card. That BP Commute Crew is one, nice group of people!
I have learned so much during this campaign and have really enjoyed sharing the tips I picked up at “Gas Class”. These four are my favorite, because they are things that I can do, personally, to improve my car’s performance.
* Don’t leave your car idling at school pick up. Shutting off your engine will save gas and the environment.
*All grades of BP gasoline with Invigorate® help your car get a few more miles per tank when compared to low-detergency, low-quality gasoline (I saw the difference with my own eyes). When used continuously, it helps clean and protect critical engine parts from harmful deposits, so you’ll go a little farther between fill-ups.
* Plug your destination into your GPS before you leave the house so that if you encounter traffic, you can automatically be redirected to another route.
* Choose the scenic route! This will allow you to practice more fuel-saving techniques versus contributing to bumper-to-bumper, stop-and-go traffic.
Just tell me which one of these tips you are most likely to use and I will enter you in the drawing for one of TWO $40 gift cards. You can earn extra entries by tweeting about this giveaway, then leave your tweet link in a comment on this post. Contest ends Wednesday, August 17th at 5pm Eastern.
Two winners will be chosen at random. Make sure to leave a valid email address, so I can contact you if you win.
Good luck and happy commuting!

I use BP gas almost exclusively and almost always prefer to take the scenic route!
I also slug (a commuting system- google it, it’s fascinating) which helps save on a LOT of gas!
Ashley H.
I’d use the GPS tip.

I always thought that taking the back roads was bad-which made me sad b/c I LOVE the back roads! So even though I already do one of these things (program the GPS and use the “detour” function in traffic) I’m most likely to use the back roads. Thanks for the tip!
Sarah
The scenic route for sure. I’m in DC and whatever I can do to avoid the beltway during rush hour…
domestic extraordinaire
I always up for the scenic route and I always have my gps, but honestly sometimes it takes me further out of my way than it needs to.
Lisa Daly
I never leave my car idling at pick up…harmful fumes and wastes gas! Could really use that gas card!
Jessica
I almost always take the scenic route. It saves gas AND sometimes it lulls the baby to sleep!

I love taking the scenic route, so that would definitely be my choice. Bumper to bumper traffic makes me homicidal.

I’m most likely to choose the scenic route!

most likely I won’t idle when picking up my daughter

I like the scenic route. It usually takes just as long, but at least I FEEL like I’m getting somewhere.

Idling at school and choosing the scenic route.
Great tips! Gas has gotten so high, I’m trying to do whatever I can to ease the pain 😉
Michelle
Yay I’m not the only one who puts even local addresses onto my gps to avoid traffic :). That’s my tip taken!
Ang
No idling here either- anywhere! Mainly because if I leave it idle, I may completely walk off and leave it running for an hour…ooohhh shiny things!!!
I also prefer the back roads and often do use the GPS to check traffic, especially the last month as I’ve been on the road a Lot, lot, lot with moving. YUK!
Gas card giveaways rock!! 🙂

Tweeted!! Well, Google Plus’d with Tweet extension so G+’d and Tweeted! 🙂

I like to use the GPS tip.

Taking the scenic route…hmm…may invoke ‘breathing’ and a more sane mom! Yep! I’m going to try that one!

WE ALMOST ALWAYS TAKE THE “BACK ROADS” MY HUSBAND CALLS IT “TAKING THE LONG CUT” WHICH USUALY MEANS A RIDE THRU DOWNTOWN COLUMBUS,THE SHORT NORTH DISTRICT & MOST SCENIC OF ALL, DRIVING THRU THE OHIO STATE UNIVERSITY CAMPUS! WITH A TANK FULL OF BP GASOLINE WE CAN CRUISE ALL DAY OR NIGHT AND STILL BE COST EFFICIENT!
Melisa
I never leave my car idling. NEVERRRRRR!
Isla Murden-Shell
I’ll take the scenic route 🙂
Rachel (Hounds in the Kitchen)
I love choosing the scenic route.
Jenna Consolo
I’ll turn the engine off when I’m waiting outside the school!
Amy
We just bought a new car and I have only been using BP gas. We have a Honda CRV and I love to take the scenic route now because I know that the car won’t break down!
LiteralDan
Avoiding stop-and-go traffic is definitely tops on my list, and I can’t bring myself to idle the car longer than about 5 seconds, I tell you.
When I lived in Northern Maine, it would drive me nuts seeing people leaving their cars running the ENTIRE time they were grocery shopping, for example. Gotta keep it nice and toasty in there, right?? Madness
Joni
I like the tip regarding shutting off the car at school pickup…it seems the kids just continue to walk in all the fumes of everyone’s idling cars! Yuck!
